Aloha e komo mai (Welcome and hello). When a forest comes back, life returns with it: biodiversity thrives, watersheds recover, livelihoods grow, and communities connected to the land flourish.

This November, we’re inviting a select group to spend three days on the island where Terraformation began. Step inside a seed bank. Walk the land with the people who tend it. See restoration at every stage: nurseries, first plantings, and forest taking hold.

Join our team on the ground to experience restoration in Hawaiʻi and learn about Terraformation’s global initiatives of restoring degraded land, from Latin America to Africa. Attendees will connect with Hawaiʻi’s roots, scientists and restoration professionals, and see firsthand how Terraformation is restoring forests and building the systems to make it possible.

Six years later, that vision has taken Terraformation from Hawaiʻi to Africa, Latin America, Southeast Asia and beyond—and deepened our understanding of how to restore native forests.

Event Highlights

The itinerary includes excursions to Terraformation project sites across Hawaiʻi Island, plus workshops and meetings with community leaders and local stakeholders to advance conversations and actions towards scaling restoration.

During the three-day trip, you will:

  • Experience full-cycle restoration work, from seed collection to planting.
  • Meet cultural leaders and community advisory council members.
  • Network and share insights with reforestation advocates.
  • Explore innovative seed banks, monitoring tools, and other restoration technologies and solutions, including the world’s largest off-grid desalination plant.
  • Learn more about Terraformation’s Hawaiʻi and global program initiatives and explore opportunities to get involved.

Featured speakers

Attendees will hear from Terraformation President Jad Daley and experienced practitioners who are shaping how we bring forests back to life at the speed and scale the climate crisis demands.

Event Details

This invitation-only event is designed for stakeholders across the reforestation ecosystem: corporate sustainability and climate leaders, philanthropists, foundations, community organizations, project developers and funders and partners ready to move capital into high-impact reforestation. The goal is to bring together a group of practitioners and decision-makers for cross-sector exchange that turns conversation into action.

Terraformation will cover on-island event expenses, including hotel, transportation, meals, and activities. Attendees are responsible for their own flights or transportation to and from Hawaiʻi Island.

Terraformation has secured resort accommodations at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel located at 62-100 Kaunaʻoa Drive Kohala Coast, HI 96743. If you prefer to stay at a different property, you are responsible for arranging your own reservation and transportation.
